What we like about you!

Pictures with our 4k buddies.
We traced each other with sidewalk chalk,
Around a heart we drew.
We thought of words to show our friends,
how much they mean us!

Fifth Grade Roaming Writers for 2013-2014

Ms. Eisen's class
Mrs. Hahn's class

This year's greatest group of writers! So much to write and so little time. Over half of these writers have started their second writer's notebook this year. For many this was a personal goal they set for themselves since the first weeks as a 5th grader. I am incredibly proud of their accomplishments. Well, why don't we ask these students, "What inspires them as writers?"

"A world without writing is like love without words!"     Chloe

"Writing helps me create two characters that can be different and yet alike in my stories!"   Ally

"Writing helps me express my inner self!"     Alek

"Great reading inspires great writing ideas"!" Lora

"Difference is great, likeness is boring when you write!"   Josh

"Writing keeps me thinking about new stories I want to write!"     Gracie

"Writing is just the beginning of a story!"      Matthew

"Writing brings out your voice!"     Hayley

"Writing is about the things you love and cherish, the things you really know!"  Kendall

"Writing makes me visualize what I am thinking!"    Joey

"Writing helps me feel closer to my family."     Grace

"Writing helps me express my feelings!"     Holly

"Writing is a passion that inspires me to write!"       Madison

"Writing makes me a better person. It makes me think about the things in my life!"   Kendra

"Writing brings memories to life!"       Blake
Kayley
"Writing  helps me get down my thoughts on paper without sharing it with the world!"  Ariel

"Since teaching the Writer's Worshop using Lucy Calkin's model, I found myself as a writer again! I am enthusiastic and love trying to catch-up on writing all the memorable moments that have been part of my life that I missed out on earlier. I continue to be amazed at how students show a desire and passion to become a better writers. Students can't wait to share and celebrate their writing with their classmates and me!  As they say, "A writer's job is  never be done, it has just begun!"
